# Comparative Analytics

> Compare learners, sections, subjects, or periods with enough context to avoid misleading conclusions.

# Compare performance responsibly

Use comparable assessment scope, difficulty, marks, and time period. Note differences in completion and section size.

Good comparisons answer a specific question, such as:

* Did a section improve after reteaching?
* Which question caused difficulty across groups?
* Is a learner improving against their own earlier work?

Avoid ranking learners from a single assessment or comparing percentages built from different sets of work.

## Make a fair comparison

Record the assessment scope, total marks, completion rate, and number of learners. Compare the same measure across groups and state any difference in timing or difficulty.

| Which concept improved after reteaching?                   | Which section is best?               |
| Which question was difficult across both groups?           | Who has the lowest percentage?       |
| Is this learner improving against earlier comparable work? | Is this learner below everyone else? |

Use comparisons to choose instructional support, not to label learners.
